Introduction
Lijiang – situated above 2,000 meters sea level, is an ancient place with 800 years history.
It’s a pity that there is no direct flight to Lijiang from Hong Kong yet. There are two options :
1. via Kunming or 2. fly directly from Shenzhen (around 2.5 hours)
This club was opened early this year, approximately 15 mins from the city.
Club Facilities & Service
Temporary Club House is not impressive, small and simple that you might not want to hang around, however, the service of the staff is acceptable.
Fairway & Green maintenance
The condition is almost perfect, apart from being on the the slow side.
Caddy Service & knowledge
Never thought of having a good caddie at a new course. This time, I was impressed, I’d a good one, accurate information and nice service.
Course Design
The front 9 is built along & up the mountain, so there are plenty of dogleg & blind shots, while the back 9 is built at the foot & around the lake with some holes with force carry the water, most fairways of the course are fairly generous so you can take out the big stick.
Mind you, the blue tee is very long, more than 7,200 yards. Not to mention the crazy long back tee – almost 7,700 yards.
Photos
-
A dogleg right opening hole, bunkers on both sides of the landing area. Too much left will get wet.
Slightly elevated green with front and left bunkers protected.
-
Downhill straight Par 4,not much problem if you can keep the fairway and greenside bunkers out of your life.
-
Dogleg right uphill, must consult your caddie the distance and direction, not much margin of error.
3 bunkers guard the green
-
dogleg left, a downhill teeshot follow by an uphill approaching.
-
S shaped fairway, not a big problem unless you play agressively.
-
Obviously aim a bit left for more safety
-
Dogleg left, wide fairways, avoid the big bunker infront of the green.
-
Dogleg left, plenty of bunkers
-
A pretty wide fairway, grap and wrack it.
-
The most critical shot is approaching, left with water and right with bunkers, god bless you.
-
Dogleg left, the approaching is quite simliar to the last hole, left water, right bunkers.
-
A simple Par 3
-
Dogleg left, long and narrow green with a giant bunker on the left.
-
Long Par 5, tee shot is quite important, make sure to leave yourself a comfortable second shot which need to cross a creek.
-
Straight Par 4
-
Mid range Par 3
007’s Rating
The course is in perfect shape! It is well designed with good combination of bunkers and water hazards, good course management is required or you will be trapped by the well positioned hazards. I found the course to be very interesting and enjoyable to play at. The scenery is also very nice, the only downside is the temporary clubhouse plus the real estate construction which affected the view.
There are quite a lot of attractions & plenty to do in Lijiang. Besides the Ancient City – is a must go, we also visited the beautiful Tiger Leaping Canyon and horse back riding at the Lasi Lake.
There are only 3 five stars hotel here, the very first one – Guang Fang Hotel, the newest one – The Dagang Hotel(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) and the tip top Banyan Tree Resort.
