I was told that this golf course was fairly easy (my mates who played the course before call it the “Regain confidence course”) and since I have been playing poorly recently and it’s in the neighborhood of Palm Island Golf club where I stayed overnight (about half an hour drive and 80 RMB away) so I decided to give it this Japanese owned club the next day.
Club Facilities & Service
The club house is quite big (for an 18 hole course), but facilities are just basic with a restaurant, proshop & locker room….oh yes, there is a bar there too. The service of the staff is acceptable.
Fairway & Green maintenance
Very nice. All fairways & greens were in excellent shape.
Caddy Service & knowledge
Caddy’s Service and Knowledge of the course.
The caddies service was quite good last time but this time I had a new caddy so her course knowledge was limited.
The course has been enhanced. i.e. difficulties added such as more bunkers, they also use the rough to shape the fairways, it could be nasty if they grows. The fairways are consider to be generous fairways but the Back white tee commands a respectable 6,585 yards. ….so if you want to score well you still need to have a big drive on majority of the holes or play on the regular white tee which has a much more friendly distance of 6,140 yards.
But as there are very little hazards on the course and it is ‘almost’ impossible to have blow outs.
# 1，Cham’p 405,,back 375, regular 355 & ladies 330, index 9.
This should be a dogleg to the right NOT left as indicated by the layout!
# 2,,Cham’p 510, back 470, regular 435 & ladies 415, index 17.
A short par 5 with a straight fairway which turns to the left with some water on the right side which is not in play unless……….
# 3, Cham’p 190, back 170, regular 150 & ladies 130, index 11.
A downhill par 3 with an elevated green.
# 4, Cham’p 415, back 395, regular 370 & ladies 335, index 3
A very generous fairway…. length is the only difficulty here.
# 5, Cham’p 400, back 375, regular 345 & ladies 310, index 15
One of the few fairways that has some danger of getting wet…..
# 6, Cham’p 185, back 160, regular 145 & ladies 130, index 7.
Here is another one with water but all you need to do is aim to the left side bail out area a bit & you will be ok.
# 7, Cham’p 575, back 550, regular 520 & ladies 480, index 13.
This is a long par 5 that goes slightly upslope.
# 8, Cham’p 420, back 400, regular 380 & ladies 360, index 1.
The hardest hole on the course, a dogleg left, the 2nd is going upslope with bunkers guarding the green.
# 9, Cham’p 410, back 390, regular 370 & ladies 335, index 5.
The tee shot is going down the slope while the approach is going up.
# 10, Cham’p 400, back 385, regular 365 & ladies 345, index 10.
Another downslope tee shot, there are bunkers on either side of the fairway waiting to catch your wayward tee shot.
# 11, Cham’p 510, back 475, regular 445 & ladies 410, index 18
A very short par 5, this is the one to go for in 2!
# 12, Cham’p 420, back 405, regular 375 & ladies 345, index 6.
A gentle downhill but long par 4, the approach to the green is upslope.
# 13, Cham’p 175, back 160, regular 135 & ladies 120, index 16.
An uphill par 3 with bunkers on the left, right & behind.
# 14, Cham’p 445, back 415, regular 385 & ladies 350, index 2.
A downhill par 4 with the approach going back up the slope to an elevated green.
# 15, Cham’p 375, back 350, regular 325 & ladies 280, index 14.
A downslope par 4, the bunkers on the left are in play, the approach is going upslope with bunkers on the left front of the green.
# 16, Cham’p 220, back 195, regular 170 & ladies 150, index 12.
A long downhill par 3, selection of club is important…..my tee shot here only needed a 5 iron due to the severe downhill.
# 17, Cham’p 550, back 520, regular 495 & ladies 455, index 8.
A longer par 5, as all the shots are going slightly uphill.
# 18, Cham’p 415, back 395, regular 375 & ladies 350, index 4.
The final hole is playing slightly downhill & going back up.
The club house & service are pretty average and I can’t think of much more to say but the recent enhancement made the course more interesting to play.
Credit given to green keeper. The condition is at very high level througout the year. Welldone!
Finally, this club is quite close to Huizhou Tangquan & Palm Island GC, if you are going to that direction, stay for another day & check them out.
