Review Summary:

I thought I could relax & have fun playing 2 rounds of leisure golf but my mood & confidence was adversely affected by playing the first round at the extremely tough Red Mountain (or was it because the beers I had the night before?), thankfully the Lakes is not as hard but still no push over.....

Introduction

Lakes course is one of the two courses of the Blue Canyon Country Club, the Canyon is possibly one of the Asia’s finest & known as the venue of some big championships, at 2006, the Lakes also went through a renovation and upgrade and is a championship golf course too.

Club Facilities & Service

The big and nice clubhouse sits on top of a small hill & overlooks the 18th of the Canyon course, the proshop(1, 2) is big and with lots of stock & variety, both the service of the locker(1, 2, 3) and cafe is not bad.

Fairway & Green maintenance

BlueCanyonLakes-Condition
Both Fairways & greens were excellent at the front 9, the back 9 was under maintenance & a bit brown….still pretty good though.

Caddy Service & knowledge

Service was good & the lines given on the green were excellent!

Course Design

BlueCanyonLakes-DesignDon’t like water? Water is on 17 out of 18 here….. the 17th par 3 is the only hole without water hazard.

I think there are more blind holes, fairways are tighter twist & turn at the front 9, check with the caddie for directions & distance carefully or you will struggle to navigate, the back 9 plays slightly easier as they are wider and less winding. Out of the 18 holes, I like the #4 & #18th.

007’s Rating

I thought I could relax & have fun playing 2 rounds of leisure golf but my mood & confidence was adversely affected by playing the first round at the extremely tough Red Mountain (or was it because the beers I had the night before?), thankfully the Lakes is not as hard but still no push over, pay more attention & be conservative on the front 9, the back plays a touch easier but this is still a challenging course. Out of the 2 courses, I prefer the Canyon, it is more interesting to play & pettier.
