Introduction
Used to be the second public golf course in Shenzhen, but changed to private club in 2006. From Huanggang border, it takes around 40 minutes ride.
Club Facilities & Service
For a public course(Used to be), the elegant clubhouse is a welcome surprise and features an array of pre and post golf facilities.

Fairway & Green maintenance
Jul 2006: Fairways are in excellent condition while the greens look good and putt well, but haven’t been given time to settle and are incredibly hard. Don’t be at all surprised to see your perfectly flighted pitching wedge take a hard first bounce and end up over the back. Don’t despair, these will soften in time.
Caddy Service & knowledge
As a brand new course I wasn’t expecting much, but my lady caddie, from Sichuan, managed some pretty good English which was impressive. My chinese collegues, however, rated theirs as only average.
Course Design
Firestone is tough. The landing areas are not particularly generous and the greens feature some wicked slope. The front nine holes are not a naturally beautiful stretch of holes but are made more attractive by a good use of water and landscaping. The undulating back nine winds its way through a valley and are, in my opinion, the better of the two. From the blue tee the course measures in excess of 6,500 yards – long for recreational golfers. For weekend players, a drop down to the white tees is a good idea because the course’s numerous hazards are less in play.

In order to make your second shot easier, the ball must be placed on the platform, mind you, avoid the “forest” at the front left side of the green, otherwise, prepare to farewell the ball.
-
Tight landing area, left OB , too right will end up at the long rough in which you will never love it. Approaching is not much better, see the bunkers staring at you, and if you overhit, grap another ball and rehit.
-
Another tight fairway, dare to use your driver shoot 230+, the landing area is a bit more wider.
-
Mid long Par 3, not really tough though
-
Dogleg left Par 5, starting climbing uphill from the second shot onwards
-
A short downhill Par 3, not much trouble.
-
Left OB , keep right, elevated green.
-
Bunkers sit both sides at the landing area. Beware driving too long and too right will get wet. Slightly uphill for the approaching shot.
-
Long Par 5, wide fairways. Becareful of the water at the right front side of the green
007’s Rating
Tough from the blue tees. Considerably easier from the whites. Not in the top echelons of Guangdong courses but it’s worth a visit nonetheless.
My only real gripe is with the management. For years, management received tons complaint of slow play but no action has been taken so far. (Don’t be surprise if you finish in 6 hours, the worst we heard was 7+ hours).
So, If you would like to try , make sure you stay away from weekends and public holidays. Good Luck!
