Introduction
The course is located in Gaoming, the ferry from China HK City, TST will take about 2 hours & 45 minutes to get there (it will stop by another ferry pier along the way), and an additional 15-20 minutes ride with the shuttle bus.
This course is only another half an hour ride from Zhaoqing Golf Club so you can stay & play there while you are in the neighborhood
Club Facilities & Service
The current clubhouse is supposed to be temporary but it’s been there for ages. The so-called permanent club house has yet to be finished and one thinks that it is unlikely to be completed anytime soon. Anyway, the facilities are a bit limited but the changing rooms are clean, you can order some decent food, and you can also stay the night in one of their clean and simple rooms.
Fairway & Green maintenance
Very good at the moment. (Sep 2005). Somewhat unexpectedly it has to be said as the course isn’t exactly flush with cash (or patrons) but they’ve done a good job keeping it in shape.
Caddy Service & knowledge
Average.
Course Design
The entire course is built around several small hills – it reminds me of the Jiulong Hills as they have a similar layout & both are very tight with narrow fairways & big doglegs. Not very long at only 6,227 yards from the blue tee – accuracy is far more important than length here.
Most greens feature significant slope so you’ll do well not to 3-putt!

Tough opener and not one for the slicer. Carry is all over water so make sure you’re warmed up.
-
Great par 5 this. Water all the way down the left so best to be conservative on the second shot. One of the most attractive holes in Guangdong!
-
Downhill par 3 – mid iron.
-
Very interesting par 4. Second shot plays downhill over a ravine don’t be short!
-
Shortish par 5 that sweeps to the right. Another very attractive hole.
-
-
Stay left for goodness sake! Trees on the right will block any approach shots that find the right side of the fairway. Yet another good hole!
-
Uphill short par 4. Fairway is wide enough to hit driver but only really needs a fairway wood and wedge.
-
Real beauty this one. 3 wood off the tee followed by a short iron. Very pretty hole.
-
Try and muster all your adrenelin for the walk up hill – this is a monster par 5. 527 yards from the blue tee? No way Jose! Plays closer to 600 yards. Fairway tightens closer you get to the green – Par is an excellent score!
-
Tight, tight fairway. Strong hole!
-
Star shaped island green. Beautiful!
-
Tough hole for faders of the ball. Elevated green will dismiss any poorly struck iron shots (I should know).
-
One of the longer par 4s here. Good straight drive vital.
-
Little par 3 with OB on the right. Higher part of the course which is effected by the wind a bit more.
-
Dogleg right. Not many worries here really. Green slopes from back to front.
-
Uphill par 5. I know it’s under 500 yards but you’d have to really nail both shots to reach. Very thick rough on the right side.
-
Downhill, dogleg right, short par 4. Not a particularly strong finishing hole and expect some birdies.
007’s Rating
The blue tee is not very long but it actually played a little longer as some of the fairways are uphill & narrow. So if you are looking for a challenge & test your accuracy, this is it. Also, it would not hurt to warm up a bit before you tee off as the first couple of holes are quite demanding. Overall, it’s a beautiful place and well worth the ferry trip.
Possibly the most relaxing place in Guangdong!
