Introduction
My final round was at this Greg Norman design, which is about 30 minutes from the city centre & about the same distance from the airport – perfect if, like me, you have a late afternoon flight: you can still squeeze in a round of golf…great!
Fairway & Green maintenance
Both fairways & greens were in kept in good shape.
Caddy Service & knowledge
Service was ok, knowledge of the course was average.
Course Design
The golf course in located around a few small hills fairly near an industrial area, but despite this the view is still quite pleasant as most of the the buildings are hidden and there isn’t much pollution or noise. If you have ever tried the very tough Norman Course at Mission Hills you will find the design here is quite similar, but thankfully Kai Kou isn’t as demanding as the fairways are very generous and the rough is not as brutal. Having said that, the strong signature bunkering by Norman is still a definite handful – try your best to avoid them as you may spend a fair bit of time trying to get the ball out. As to the design, there is a very good mix of holes here; an interesting combination. From the blue tee it measures a respectable 6,701 yards and from the white tee it measures a more manageable 6,247 yards. (scorecard)

-
This opening hole is pretty straught forward & slighly upshope .
-
A fairly short hole with water on the leftside all the way to the green.
-
A tough & long par 5, going uphill will add more yardage & the approach to the green is blind.
-
Another par 5, this one is going back down the hill, the green is heavily guarded by bunkers & water on the right.
-
The tee shot is upslope on this par 4.
-
Sorry guys, forgot to take photo here but this is a 173 yards par 3.
-
A short par 4 but quite tricky, going gently uphill, both tee shot & approach will need to clear the creeks.
-
Need to carry all the way or get wet….in fact, there is small bail out area on right of the green.
-
The home hole is up the hill, watch out for this green as it slopes from back to front severely.
-
This opening hole is a short downslope par 4, a nice 3 wood or drive will set you up with a wedge to the green which is guarded by a small creek just in front.
-
This par 4 is uphill all the way….tough hole.
-
A long hole with the teeshot up the slope, the long approach is back down the slope.
-
Another stronge hole, tee shot is slighly uphill, green is guarded by 2 massive bunkers back & front.
-
A tough par 3 with big bunkers on either side.
-
A long uphill par 5….takes 3 really soild & long shots to reach this green.
-
A beautiful downhill par 3 .
-
A simple par 5 with water on the right side of the green.
-
The final hole is going uphill, green is protected by 2 big bunkers in front.
007’s Rating
Very happy with the club. The facilities(1, 2, 3, 4) are good, the course design is fair and interesting and the conditioning of the course was also very sound; overall, good job!
