Introduction
This Montogomerie desgned course is situated at Donghai area, 30 mins away from Nanshan area. It was opened at September 2006 and Monty was there on 6-11-2006 for the grand opening.
Club Facilities & Service
Monty course shares the same clubhouse with Pine Canyon course. Clubhouse(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) isn’t big and basic facilties with coffee shop, restaurant, proshop, changing room. Surprisingly, the $50 seafood buffet(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) lunch was impressive and tasty.
The staff’s attitude and service was horrible, far from acceptable.
Fairway & Green maintenance
Not as great as Pine Canyon. However, it’s very good indeed. Fairways is on hard side and could get much rolling.
Caddy Service & knowledge
Caddies are mostly newbies. Unlike Pine Canyon, this course has clear distance markers.
Course Design
Not exactly links style as they said. This course is still next to the sea and features a flat landscape, numerous giant bunkers(1, 2), deep huge greenside bunkers… good sand players must have an advantage here, nightmare typeof roughs(1, 2) (best to keep away from it), generous fairways and windy condition with little water in play
The 6800 yards blue tee must be a tough test while white tee is more friendly 6100 yards.

Start off fairly straight then turn left to the green, a giant bunker lies infront of the green.

If you played Golden Gulf GC , Zhuhai and Meishi MayFlower GC at Hainan before, you probably can imagine how the course alike. But I didn’t expect the bunkers could be so large and I spent most of the time to avoid it. Having said that, I will consider myself lucky only got caught by few bunkers but not the thick rough which hardly find the ball. Playing agreesively in the deadly rough will make the situation even worse.
Course maintainence is good though not great.
As a whole, this is a good course and interesting to play. Give it some time, when the young trees grow, the view will will be a lot better.
Like Pine Canyon, it deserves a better rating if the not the bad service from the front desk.
